On the last weekend of our warsaw assignment, we finally could make it to a trip. It was always Berlin that we had in our minds. Last minute changes and convincing the one's on the fence, the tickets were finally booked. It was booked for 7 of us, but then turn of events, made us cancel another one ticket. So finally it was 6. The initial cost estimated cost was around 372 PLN per person, but then the group discount got the cost down by 40% which was 223 PLN. It was indeed a huge saving.
The plan was to start on Saturday early morning. We reached the station in the nick of time, and managed to find our cabin in time. The journey to the destination is the best part of any trip. We were looking forward for the rail trip to Berlin, as in travelling Europe by Train , which was one of things which we thought would be like a Yash Raj movie. Unfortunately, it was nothing close to it. Our Konkan Railway trip is any day far better and beautiful compared to this Europe Railway trip. May be we need to try different parts of Europe to see the beautiful sceneries.
The only good view from the train was that of the Biggest Statue of Jesus.
If you look around the statue, thats what the whole view on the route looked like.
The travel ... with Devi enjoying his sleep..and mind you, no one disturbs him when he sleeps.
Upon reaching Berlin, we were stunned to see the beautiful Railway station, which didn't look anything less than an Airport. The mall in the station was simply great and had all the facilities.
The insides of the station.
We then took a hop on hop off bus from the Bus station, so that we cover the must see places in Berlin.
Please don't ask me what's this. I have no clue.
This Arc was gifted by France to Germany. Again, dont remember the significance of this.
Some of the things that one cannot ignore in Berlin and this is one of them, the office of Mercedes-Benz and its a treat to see the sign rotating.
This is one of the older building in Berlin and have special golden coloured balconies.
The famous Berlin Wall.
This are the statues on the Unter Den Linden Road. This is a royal route and have all the historical building's on this.
This is a memorial to the Jews.
Reichstag Imperial Parliament Berlin
Thats the whole group of us infront of the Recichstag, Berlin
Infront of the brandenburg gate.
To give a perspective of this important monument when the Berlin wall was present, please have a look at this picture which I picked from the net
The remains of Berlin wall.
One of the Museums's. Looked pretty beautiful in the night with the LED's.
This was one of the Biggest shopping center's in the whole of Europe. Not sure if it still maintain's that status. This is just next to the TV Tower
The TV Tower
View of Berlin Dome from the TV tower
The View of the City as well its own Shadow from the TV Tower
Photo session ..
Around the TV tower in the Alexanderplatz
Infront of the Berliner Dome
Girish admiring the River Cruise
And then all joined him for the photo ...This is just infront of the Berliner Dome
The Cruise which passes below , does the city tour.
Architecture at the Unter Den Linden
The University and the Library behind. The library which is at the back side once had more than 10000 books burnt. As a reminder to this sad event the basement of the library is only having empty racks.
Me relaxing after a long tiring walk.
And this is the whole group ...
This is the way beer is enjoyed :)
The hostel where we were put up. It was nice and well managed.
TV tower and surrounding's
